Planning permission for the erection of a 60-metre high wind monitoring mast on Woodmancott Down was rejected by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in June.  An appeal is now pending.

TCI Renewables submitted planning permission for the erection of a 60-metre high wind monitoring mast on Woodmancott Down in March of this year. The application was rejected by Candover Parish Council, and by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in June.  TCI then lodged an Appeal, which a Planning Inspector for the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government is about to review.

This mast is a precursor to a full planning application, which we understand is to be submitted shortly, for a wind farm.  Whilst the initial plans are for 7 x 100 metre high turbines, TCI is very open in explaining that they hope to increase the number of wind turbines in the our area.

The 'STOP Woodmancott Down Wind Farm' Action Group includes a strong objectors group of Woodmancott residents. It anticipates that the Appeal decision will not be announced before 1 November.
