  The BBC’s James Landale will moderate a one off election special at 8pm on Monday 1st March, when Winchester's Parliamentary candidates present their vision for development and the countryside.  
         
    “Rejection of plans for a major holiday development in the middle of Black Wood shows local democracy at its best,” said the Society’s Chairman Douglas Paterson.

  “Last year’s triumph over the proposed eco-town was your Battle of Britain,” said newly-elected Chairman Douglas Paterson at the Society's AGM in Micheldever Station. But, he cautioned, “the war isn’t over yet!”

  Almost 200 people crowded into the Warren Hall at Micheldever Station last night to give a unanimous veto to Eagle Star’s latest proposals for a major new town in the Hampshire countryside.

    The county depends heavily on its underground sources, especially the chalk aquifer. However, improved detection of pollutants over the last decade has heightened awareness of their vulnerability to contamination.
